Benjamin Manning

This was a work of imagination for we do
not yet have a photograph or drawing of
Mr Manning, but as our research into the life of Benjamin and his family continued,
Tim began to feel as if he knew him.

Alder by Bradiford Water by
              Christine Lovelock

Alder by Bradiford Water, pastel,
by Christine Lovelock

This is the view from the old bridge
that leads into the small field by the river,
across the stream from Manning's Pit,
so while not strictly in Manning's Pit,
the bridge is part of the land that
was included in the sale.

Anchor Mill in the snow, from Manning's Pit

Anchor Mill, in the snow, at sunset
from Manning's Pit, pastel
by Christine Lovelock

This was painted before the work that took place
when the Countryside Stewardship was set up in
about 2003. The two trees on the left side
are also featured in the pastel further
down below, in summer close up

Snow on Tutshill, from Manning's Pit

Snow on Tutshill, from Manning's Pit, pastel
by Christine Lovelock

This was a morning view, the light coming
through onto the hedgerows is always
particularly beautiful on a sunny
 winter morning.

Two hedgerow trees on a frosty morning,
with Tutshill Woods behind, pastel
by Christine Lovelock

These trees are in the small field that was
included in the sale, on the other side
of the river from Manning's Pit.

Cows going towards Tutshill Woods,
 from Manning's Pit, pastel
by Christine Lovelock

This was painted in about 1999, when the
cattle grazing in the field were of this colour
and bulky type- could they have been
Charolais, does anyone know?

This was also painted in about 1999.
The trees are just to the left of the
Manning's Pit bridge.

Painting 1 by Zsuzsa Reynolds
Zsuzsa Reynold's put in two paintings
of the Manning's Pit fields, as well as
a charming sketch book, and written
 testimonies about the fields,
from herself and her son Dan.

Anne Beer Painting 1

Anne Beer also put several paintings
into the Exhibition, unfortunately we were
unable to take good photographs of them at
the time, so I am afraid these do not do
 them justice.

Weir close to
              Tutshill Woods
This is another of Anne's paintings, of the weir
close to Tutshill Woods, just a little outside
the area of the Manning's Pit fields.

Anne has also given us a very moving piece
of writing, about what Mannning's Pit means
to her. You can read it on our
supporters page.
