Hector would no doubt
have been amused to know that more than one hundred
years after his death, the young man pictured on the
cover of Penguin's book The Complete Saki is often
thought to be Hector himself.
The truth is, in fact, that the photograph on the
book cover was used to represent the kind of young
man who often appears in Saki's stories, such as
Reginald or Clovis.
We don't know if Saki ever did wear a hat like the
one in the photograph, but we rather hope he did.
Especially as it inspired our image below.
